Every now and then life comes along and hands you some 20-footers to sit back and enjoy with good friends. We decided to capture some of that good time at local spot The Wedge as a tropical storm in Tahiti delivered some beautiful south swells. Thanks, Tahiti.

Introducing Eric the Intern

Hi, I'm Eric the Intern, and I'm happy to post the first actual blog that isn't news-related. For anyone who doesn't already know how I came about clinching the prestigious Intern title, let me enlighten you. I'm probably the biggest fan ever of the bands Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin, which many of you know Jeff and Chad are great friends with. One day I was Myspacing and came across Something Corporate drummer Brian Ireland's page and a picture of him from a Hozell "photo shoot." So from there I checked out the website and noticed they had taken on interns in the past, and the rest is history.

A little about myself -

I hail from a place most West Coasters know little about, Ohio. If you want to learn a thing or two about leisure, ask a Buckeye. Most of us have spent many a day cheering on the best college football team in the nation, playing corn-hole, lots of drinking games (if you have not heard of Leagueeee, I feel sorry for you), and lots of trips to the movies and the pool. Hanging with friends and family is the most important thing in my life, followed closely by my love of music. I really started getting into fashion when I spent a month in Australia and New Zealand, where I fell in love with beach culture. I like to ride the line between completely wild and totally conservative when it comes to my style, as well as my life I'd say; it makes for a good combination. I'd really like to start my own label someday or run my own store, so I feel very lucky to get the chance to work at Hozell. Anyway that's enough for now, here's a list of some favorite things of mine.

Hozell sponsored a party at the Hollywood Standard on Sunset Blvd this Spring with DB3 Productions and Dry Soda. It was held in the posh Purple Lounge. There were fabulously delicious dry soda cocktail specials named after our own "dry Chad" and "dry Jeff" as well as our friend "dry William" who provided us with performance of a few of his sweet melodies. A delightful time was had by all, despite the fact some people tried to sneak out some clothing from our Fall line preview! Why do that when you could have gotten a super sweet tank sporting the phrase "hozell makes me happy" for free?! Hozell AND free? nothing makes me happier than that!

may 2nd was a special day.... we now have the official Hozell sign up on our office building. to celebrate, we threw a warehouse warming party. we opened the doors to the new office for a good ol' house warming extravaganza. a sick musical performance by will crum, ping-pong, and a late night mint chip ice cream suprise provided by the fabulous intern lily were some of the highlights. it was good, it was fun, it was good fun. we enjoyed having you if you made it, and if you didn't, we hope to see you next time.

Been awhile...

Maybe it's been awhile since our last post, but it's not like we're sitting on our hands. You've seen us come out with a bunch of new styles.... hopefully you got your hands on one of the elbow patch hoodies with printed front pockets. They were done in a very limited release, so you're lucky if you snagged one. I don't even have one, damnit!

Since hozell prides itself on leisure and free time, i thought i'd throw up a picture of us NOT working. We cruised down to Encinitas to hang out with some friends and have a little fire on the beach - may not be work, but it's pretty 'leisure with dignity'.

Riviera Magazine - SD

We appreciate it whenever anyone likes what we're doing with Hozell enough to put it in print, so we like to tell you about it.

Riviera Magazine San Diego edition talked us up in the 'Radar Style' section of their August issue. They were doing a story on how golf is becoming mainstream and not for grandma and grandpa anymore, so they covered us. Part of the article said: 'The twentysomething crowd can turn to Hozell, which launched in 2006 with men's and women's collections that include tagless t-shirts and surf-inspired hats. "I think today's golfer wants to dress how they feel: young and great," says co-owner and designer Jeff Jackel. "They're not ready to don the pleated khaki pants and striped polo uniform."'

Hozell on NBC - Your LA

I posted awhile back about how an NBC crew came to our launch party in LA. It was the new NBC show 'Your LA' which deems itself as an insiders guide to "everything that's cool about living in Southern California". It aired earlier (Friday 10/20), but it just aired again and this time it came on right after a big golf tournament so we were flooded with calls, emails, and orders.

Launch Party - San Francisco

We're at it again. Chad just rolled up to SF for a big launch party with some friends and some strangers. Turns out we might be up there in the ranks with rice-a-roni as the San Francisco treat because people loved our stuff at the launch. I won't bore you with all the pictures, but kids bought shirts, threw them on immediately, and wore em for the rest of the night. good fun.

Don't worry San Fran. We'll be back up there real soon.

Launch Party - L.A.

We just had the Los Angeles based launch party for the first official line of Hozell clothing.

It was a great night at 'Discoland' in Hollywood (this is really just a random house where some of our friends from the band Streamline live with a semi-whacked, disco-obsessed choreographer who claims to have taught Michael Jackson the moonwalk). Anyway, we had a couple hundred folks show up including a crew from NBC doing a segment for their show 'Your LA'. Chad and I did an interview and they talked to the crowd. We got shirts for almost everyone there that say 'I'm friends with Hozell', so if you were there and got one, feel special.

Watch out for the segment on NBC soon.

Orange County Launch Thingy

The first Hozell cut & sew garments just came off the sewing tables and screenprinters, so we decided to throw a little shindig here in Orange County. Just 20-30 of our closest friends bbq-ing in Corona Del Mar and getting first crack at all the new clothes. Everyone loved the new stuff, so we're stoked. Can't wait for it to be available to everyone.
